“Every time I was in the restroom or walking in the hallways people tried bumping into me or pushing me around. After school was the worst, there were riots, and fights almost every day.”

“At my old school I was constantly getting bullied by my classmates, and in some cases even the teachers. When I would go and ask for help they would do nothing but look the other way. They would make fun of me because I have dyslexia and can't spell or read as quickly as some people. ECOT has been a lifesaver. I mean that.”

“Some people in my class at my past school would try to have me fight them, and some would verbally say things about me. Some would even cause trouble for me in my classes, like doing things and saying that I did it. They would threaten to beat me up when I got good grades in school, for I was an B average student in public school.”

“I was beat up on several days and the school did nothing, and sometimes took the bully’s side. They did nothing even though I had bruises still on my body.”

“I have been attending public schools and the bullying was horrible throughout those years. I had a teacher call me gay in front of the whole class and the students got a lot meaner about what they said to me. I did get pushed around at times. I had a teacher that told me she did not like me and another that refused to help me with any of my work. The kids themselves went back to the pushing around and saying more hurtful

“I was being threatened to get jumped and I was having rumors spread about me. I didn’t have any friends because of all the rumors and I was getting made fun of. I would walk down the halls and have people bumping shoulders with me and giving me dirty looks. It was terrible and I would call my mom crying asking her to come pick me up. It was one of those things where you would have girls shoving you in the bathroom so the teachers couldn’t see. Even when the teachers knew, if they couldn’t see them lay a hand on me, they couldn’t do anything. So I came to ECOT.”

“People not only would call me names and make fun of me, but one time they pushed me down some stairs and I dropped everything and broke my favorite watch.”

“A child pushed my son and he fell into a book display. Even though four other children all told the same story as my son, that he was pushed, he adults still accused him of being a liar and said he purposely pushed the book display. The other child was not punished and continued to torment my child.”

“I got hit and I got called bad names that I can't repeat. I had a girl and her mother stalking my house. It started in the 6th grade and throughout the summer and at the beginning of my 7th grade year. I transferred to another public school thinking I wouldn't be bullied at a new school but I was wrong--it was worse. People made me feel alone because they made sure no one talked to me. I got depressed and my mom and I decided that ECOT would be a better place for me.

“Bullies were calling me names while in the hallways, putting notes in my locker and on my locker with more names and threats, threats in the bathroom [physical and verbal].

“I'm overweight, and I'm smart, so I was never one of the popular kids. Fortunately, I was always distracted by my writing so I didn't hear all the cruel words that were actually said. I was picked on by the teachers, too. So yes, I left to escape that.”

“My son dealt with physical and verbal abuse. When I went to the principal about it nothing was done. My son had to deal with this for 3 years.”
